CORRECT - 1865 was the year that the first horse-drawn coach service ran between Melbourne and Sale with one of the stops being Rosedale. Prior to this service most people used shipping between Port Albert and Melbourne. The trip between Port Albert and Rosedale was by either by horseback, a horse-drawn buggy or a bullock dray. The train line through Rosedale was not built until the next decade.
