We are aiming to have guest speakers talk on Australian, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish, and European research this year. Please send topics of interest or offers of presentations to Pat Hughes.

9 Feb John Morrison: My 10-year Search for my Great Grandfather.
8 Mar Jenny Carter (GSV): It is with great pleasure we can announce that Jenny Carter will be our guest speaker. Jenny is an experienced family historian who answers research questions in the "Q. & A." section of Ancestor, the Genealogical Society of Victoria's journal. She still has a few 'dead ends' herself but is always alert for a new path to explore. One point she made regarding note taking from documents was to concentrate on not making careless omissions of essential details. She will be answering your questions on the day.
12 Apr Pat Hughes: My Ancestors' Connections to the Titanic.
10 May Joy Roy: Irish Research.
It is with great pleasure we can announce that Joy Roy will be our guest speaker on 10th May. Joy is an experienced Family Historian: for six years she was editor of the GSV Society's journal Ancestor, she has edited and typeset several books, some titles being: Headstones of the Footscray Cemetery, Papers of the 1st Australasian Scottish Conference, Barefoot and Pregnant: Irish Famine Orphans, Vol. 2, as well as the Proceedings for Congress 2003: Discoveries, Deadends and Databases. Joy was elected a Fellow of The Genealogical Society of Victoria in 1998 in recognition of her contribution to genealogy.

26 Jul Stuart Evans: The History of Scottish Bagpipes.
This is a special joint meeting with the Historical Society, and this time will be held in the Anglesea Community House but still at the usual 10am. Stuart is Vice President and Communications Manager of the City of Melbourne Highland Pipe Band. He is also Pipe Major of their No.2 Band.

13 Sep Historic Sites of Anglesea Bus Tour. A combined meeting with the Historical Society. Tour Guide: Lindsay Braden. Cost: $5/person incl. notes. Leave Museum at 10:00am, return to Museum for lunch - please bring a plate to share. Booking is essential due limited space on bus: Jan Morris 5263-3085.
