New 17 Dec 2018: Raffle, Editor, Meetings, Journal, Office-bearers.

Christmas Raffle
Drawn Saturday afternoon 15 December. The lucky winners of our Christmas Hampers are:
First prize: A 305 - B. Lanning.
Second prize: A 168 - K. Mitchell.
Many thanks to all our goodie donators, ticker buyers, and hardy ticket sellers for supporting us in our main fund-raiser for the year!

Journal Editor
Pat Hughes has generously offered to take over producing our Journal to lighten Jan Morris' load after several years of her producing both journals - Family History and Historical Society. Not forgetting our crack support team behind the scenes who write articles, stuff envelopes, produce address labels, and handle the distribution. Did you know that all our journals are online as searchable PDFs? We would love to have an article from you too! You can also have your journal delivered electronically instead of posted. Just contact Pat!

Family Files Project
Our project in conjunction with the Historical Society to store our published information about early district families in a genealogical database is now well under way. Data entry for Stage 1 is now almost complete, and is moving into the proofreading phase. Our Pilot file was demonstrated at our Winter Feast in July 2018.

Our associated hard-copy Family File which gathers further documentation on local families is also constantly being added to. Any contributions you can make about your own family or others would be warmly welcomed.

More News
You can find more family history news in the News section of the latest edition of our journal, the Inverlochy Log.

Welcome

Welcome to the Surf Coast Family History Group web pages. Whether you are a member of long standing, a new member, or someone who is just browsing, we hope that you will find these web pages useful. [ What's New ]

Our aim is to help our members research their family history. We are a non-profit organisation formed in 1999, staffed by volunteers, are an auspiced sub-group of the Anglesea and District Historical Society Inc, and a member society of the Genealogical Society of Victoria Inc. New members are very welcome, so if you would like to join our friendly group, please print out the Membership Form and post it to our Treasurer (see our address below), or just call in to one of our friendly monthly meetings.

We also offer the free Be Connected service sponsored by the Australian Government (Sessions 1pm Tuesdays at History House - please phone Karl on 0412 619 219 to book in).

Meetings

We meet on the second Thursday of every month except January at 10:00 am at Anglesea's History House (location below), with speakers on a variety of topics to suit the family historian. Please refer to our Meetings Programme. We'd be very interested to hear your story too, or your experiences with recording family history. Presentations or suggestions for presentations are very welcome: please contact our Programme Organiser, Susan Clarke (below).

Journal

We publish a quarterly journal, the Inverlochy Log, with articles related to local family history. All its issues can be searched and accessed on line. Perhaps you'd like to add your own family history to it - new contributions are very welcome: please contact our Editor, Pat Hughes (below).
