Club Project information

The goal of the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public and political life by recognizing a young woman’s (age 16-20) commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women.

Applicants are asked to reflect on their voluntary commitment to their school and to their community and the problems limiting the advancement of the status of women in their own country and worldwide. The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs program looks to the young women of today for the leaders of tomorrow.

Awards are presented by the club, with winners going on to be eligible for the District 23 award. If successful at that level, they are eligible for an International Award.

In 2002, the club’s award recipient, Abigail Ogada-Osir, went on to become an International YWPA Award recipient.

If you know of a young woman we should consider for the award, please contact the club. The club awards are presented in May each year.
