Service Projects

The Zonta Club of Melbourne has supported many major projects over its long history.  A couple of examples are :

  • 1980-1983  Buy Kitchen and gardening equipment and copying machine for the Task Force Drug Counselling and Rehabilitation Program.

  • 1991-1993  Buy a car for the Bethlehem Hospital Day Care Centre.

  • 1986-1988  Emergency fund to be used for immediate assistance to victims of crime.

Charter Members

Twenty two women formed the club in 1966.  Their professions included :

  • Dental Surgeon

  • Director, Department of Librarianship, RMIT

  • Director, School of Education, University of Melbourne

  • Matron, Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind

  • Principal Speech Therapist, Department of Education, Victoria
