Zonta International awards several Young Women in Public Affairs awards world wide each year. Women are first nominated at club level, and the winners can then compete through area, district and international. Young women winning this award have outstanding communication and presentation skills, and have a strong social conscience. |

The Zonta Club of Melbourne chose Abigael Ogada-Osir from a
group of promising young women as their representative in this
international competition. Abigael went on to win not only the Area and
District awards but also the international award.

She is an outstanding young women, currently studying Year 11. Abigael has enjoyed a year long exchange in France, and intends to follow a career in law. The above photos show Christine Bridgart presenting the award at her school's parade on behalf of the Zonta Club of Melbourne to Abigael, flanked by Abigael's school principal. Abigael was also presented with her award at Melbourne West's Anniversary Dinner. On this occasion, Zonta was represented by the international president elect Mary Ellen Bittner.
