| Off Heads Road track heading up the dirt track to the Eastlink track | 12 January 2009 | 7.45 am | Neil Henderson | A grey kangaroo. I heard this thump, thump, thump on the other side of the creek and there s/he was. This time it stopped opposite me and just watched me for a good minute. It then hopped away up the creek about 50 metres and into some thicker bush and I followed it but was not able to see it again though I know it was still there. It was in good shape, not thin at all |
| Near corner of Craig Rd and Beckett Rd Donvale | 12 January 2009 | 8.45 pm | Peter and Darien Grey | Mother grey kangaroo and her joey. The joey was out of the pouch |
| Karens Close Mitcham | Dec 2008 Š Jan 2009 | Several weeks | Peter Schoner | A blue tongue lizard, which lived under a piece of sheet metal left over from construction in the back yard for several weeks. Sometimes it would also just be in the sun in the backyard. It was under the sheet metal in full sunshine and we expected it to be cooked but it wasnÕt. It didnÕt mind the children checking on it. Most evenings it went away to feed and was back in the morning. One day it just didnÕt return and we havenÕt seen it since. |
| In Yarran Dheran, below Woodland Walk | 12 and 19 February 2009 | Helen Mill | Two Blotched Blue Tongue Lizards The one seen on 12 February stuck its tongue out at me but didnÕt move until I moved away and turned my back. The habitat is good for lizards there. There are big Lomandras, logs and a fallen tree with lots of twiggy branches intact and leaning on the ground. | |
| On 19 February a smaller one was moving slowly across a grassy patch below the Visitor Centre towards some tree cover. | ||||

A powerful owl was roosting all day very high up in the canopy of a large Golden Elm tree in my neighbour’s yard. On both occasions I was alerted to its presence by the noisy and persistent alarm calls of the blackbirds. It was difficult to spot as it was shielded by the thick canopy but when viewed from directly below it was clearly visible. At dusk we watched it stretch its hugh wings a few times before it launched itself into the sky and flew silently over the houses silhouetted against the sky

Turtle (most probably an Eastern Long-necked Turtle). It was about 25 cm across, 30 cm long. Sitting there taking up the width of the track I thought he was vulnerable to a speeding cyclist or an off-lead dog, so I manoeuvred it up the low bank towards the creek, then he slid down the steepish 5 foot bank to the creek. When I passed by again later he was gone
