Management
The Yarran Dheran Advisory Committee is a voluntary committee appointed by Whitehorse City Council. Its terms of reference include:
- To provide advice and practical assistance to Council on the use, care, maintenance, forward planning and improvement of the Reserve
- To conduct working bees at the Reserve
- To promote and encourage appropriate use of the Reserve and its facilities to the wider community
- To have input into Management Plans developed by Council for the Reserve

Yarran Dheran Information Centre
The Yarran Dheran Information Centre is open every Sunday (volunteer permitting) to provide information on the Reserve and on the natural history of the area. It is normally open from 2 - 5 pm, but may sometimes be open earlier in the day. A Friend of Yarran Dheran will be present to provide information. You may pick up brochures about Yarran Dheran at the Information Centre
Information Centre Bookings
The Centre is also available for hire to community groups . Contact the Secretary on 03 9874 5968 for bookings and further information.
Priorities for development of Yarran Dheran
Objectives of the committee include:
- Increase the Information centre's holding of interactive display material
- Plan and conduct a Wildflower Walk in Spring, followed by a picnic BBQ
- Continue weed control in the Reserve
- Provide a wide range of information about the Reserve on the Noticeboards
- Install permanent signs in the Reserve naming the paths
- Increase the number of Friends of Yarran Dheran, including the Friends on the Information Centre roster and the Working bees roster
- Remove non-indigenous plants over the next five years
- Remove weeds, especially sweet pittosporum, blackberry, cotoneaster, watsonia, angled onion, quaking grass
- Compile a detailed history of Yarran Dheran
- Maintain the Koala Watch program
- Organise and catalogue the poster collection, plant specimens, photographs and other materials stored in the Visitor Centre
