Web pages have different ways of letting you say what you want.

Check Boxes

A check box lets you put a tick (or sometimes a cross) in as many of the boxes as you like.

These ones ask you what kinds of computers you have used. Point the mouse pointer to the square box beside the word "Macintosh" and click. That will put a tick there. If you change your mind, click again and the tick will go.

Radio Buttons

Radio buttons only let you choose one. You click in the circle and a black dot appears. If you click in a different circle, the black dot moves to there.

These ones ask you what kind of computers you are using right now. Point the mouse pointer to the circle beside the the kind of computer you are using and click. That will put a black dot there. If you change your mind, click in a different circle and the dot will move.

Pop Down Menus

Pop down menus need you to click on the down arrow so that you can see the list of things to choose from.

This one asks you what program you are using on your computer at the moment. Click on the little black arrow, then click on the name of the program you are using. If it's not listed, choose OTHER. When you finish, the one you selected should be showing in the pop down menu space.

Text Boxes

Text boxes give you a place to type something yourself. You have to click in the box first to get a flashing line (cursor) and then you can type. Small ones like this don't leave you much space.

Text boxes often ask you for information like your name, email address and so on. Be careful who you send such information to!

Fill in these ones. You can get from one box to the next by using the TAB key on your keyboard.

Text Areas

Text areas make enough space for you to type more than just a few words. They have scroll bars along the side and bottom like your main window so that you can see all the writing. They are good for answering questions that need a bit of explaining.

Like in a text box, you need to click in the space before you can start typing.
