Welcome to the Yarrabie website

Our long-term goal is to restore and develop 33 Ha of bush scrub into a native bushland retreat for our family and friends to experience, appreciate and enjoy. The intent is to undo the many years of environmental neglect by eradicating introduced weeds and foreign vegetation, re-establishing  the plant species native to the area and setting up various mini-ecosystems throughout the block.  Hopefully the re-establishment of natural wildlife habitats will encourage the native fauna to return and feel at home.

The first step has been to provide shelter, security and other living facilities, that is, to build a house.  Building a house and living in a remote locality does present a few challenges.  Just like many remote localities in Australia, our block has no power, town water or council services. So life on our retreat will be centred around solar power and a generator, rain-filled tank water, composting toilet, grey-water recycling and other down-to-earth facilities.
