Nominations may be made Online or via downloadable ballot papers

Students, Parents, Teachers and Librarians...

At the start of Term 1, YABBA need children's nominations to compile that year's shortlist.

Reading the information below will help you become familiarised with YABBA procedures and find out if a favourite book fits the guidelines.

The books children nominate as their favourites will be collated with those from other participating schools and libraries. The ten most popular books in each section will appear on the short list for that year.

YABBA would like to encourage you to collect the maximum number of nominations possible, in any or all of the sections. Don't worry if you are unsure if a title fits into a particular section, simply record the information in the section that seems most appropriate.

  • Picture Story Book
  • Fiction for Younger Readers
  • Fiction for Older Readers
  • Fiction for Years 7 - 9

The YABBA short list is compiled and distributed to schools and public libraries, usually in term 2.


GUIDELINES

  1. Any child from Grade Prep to Year 9 may nominate a book.
  2. Books eligible for nomination (must meet these criteria )
  3. Books nominated must be the child's free choice.

Procedure for ONLINE Nominations

Use this form to submit your Nominations for the 2012 YABBA Shortlist.

NOTE: Our online voting facility does not work with some Firewalls.
You may receive a "Missing Referrer" error, in which case you will need to submit your vote via paper ballot


You can nominate up to 3 Fiction books and 1 Picture Story book.

Return nomination results to YABBA by the prescribed date included in the YABBA Schedule on the Important dates section on the YABBA home page.


If you nominate online you can NOT nominate by paper as well.

Procedure for BALLOT PAPER nominations

Download YABBA Nominations Pack : ( 28kb ) containing Guidelines/Procedures and the Nomination Tally Sheet. A copy of the previous winners can be obtained by printing the web page or by downloading the PDF version ( 10kb ) of the previous winners list.

  1. Obtain nominations.
    We suggest that you use either Individual ballot papers or a Class list sheet to assist in the collection of nominations.:


  2. Tally nominations.
    Record results on the official Nominations TALLY SHEET included in the YABBA Nominations Pack ( 28kb )
    Please ensure that the form:
    • indicates the number of nominations for each title
    • is signed by the appropriate person
    • has your school address included

  3. Return nomination results to YABBA by the prescribed date included in the YABBA Schedule on the Important dates section on the YABBA home page.
