Wangaratta Squash and Racquetball club endorse and encourage the use of Protective eyewear.

Wangaratta Squash Club has been established for forty years. It started at Nolan Bros Squash Courts where Safeway is now situated before moving to the HP Barr Reserve. It is now called the Wangaratta Indoor Aquatic Centre which is a large sporting complex.

We have six glass back courts where squash and racquetball competitions are played weekly and also cater for numerous tournaments including the Victorian Open Squash Championships and International Racquetball Championship.

We are a non profit organisation run by a dedicated committee of volunteers. We help keep our costs down by conducting special effort fundraisers from time to time. These events are always lots of fun for our members and families.

In 2005 the club was awarded by the VSF, The Squash Club of the Year Award, ahead of 150 other clubs in Victoria. It was awarded for the clubs excellent administration, program innovation and the calibre of its management team as quoted by Paul Vear, Victorian Squash Federation Executive Director.

Highlights of our club’s achievements are

• Hosting the past 11 Victorian Open Squash Championships, first time they have ever been held outside of Melbourne.
• Implementing a junior development program which now boasts numbers in excess of 50.
• Introduction of racquetball to the Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre which now has 85 players participating in their weekly in-house racquetball competitions.
• Establishment of the Wangaratta Racquetball Championships, which is a major event on the Australian racquetball tournament calendar.
