About the Group
The Werribee River Association was formed in April, 1981 as a result of local interest in the promotion of the City of Wyndham's most natural and attractive asset. Its role is to act as a catalyst and co-ordinating body to achieve the following:
- Maintain, improve and develop the Werribee River catchment for the purposes of passive recreation and sport while conserving the native flora and fauna.
- Promote the wider appreciation and use of the river in accordance with the first objective by the residents of, and visitors, to the region.
- Achieve a balance between the quality and quantity of water within the Werribee River catchment necessary to fulfil the above objectives, and the use of the river water for irrigation purposes.
In keeping with these objectives, the Association's area of interest and action for achieving these objectives can be summarised as follows:
- Create a regional botanical park along both sides of the river
- Encouraging the use of the Werribee River for education purposes
- Collecting, collating and storing information
The Werribee River Association meets in the Old Shire Offices on the corner of Duncans Rd and Watton St at 7.30 p.m. on the 3rd Thursday of the month. The works program is held on the 1st Saturday of the month at 1.30 pm. New members are always welcome.

About the Site
This site was redeveloped by Alistair Deneys to incorporate best-of-practise internet coding styles and methodologies. All layout items are contained in divs with no tables used for the normal site flow and layout. All styles and visuals are achieved through the use of css. The use of css allows greater control and maintainability over the look and feel of the entire site.
The site data is retained in xml files with xslt used to add mark up to transform the data into html. The use of xslt allows easier maintainence of site data. As the hosting enironment for this site is static, the site is one time compiled on the development machine before being uploaded to the hosting server.
