President's Report - July
2009
It is a privilege to have been
appointed to the position of President by the Committee of Winter Group Inc.
Even though I haven't skied with the group, I have enjoyed getting to know
most of you through pub nights and camping weekends.
It is my intention to continue
informal meetings where decisions are arrived at by consensus wherever
possible. I should also let you know that, on the snow, I am more likely to
join a ramble around Sun Valley (with a stop a Dickey Knees for coffee) than
to lead a day tour around the Bogong High Plains.
Having witnessed a good start to
the season that has dissipated somewhat due to rain on the snow, I would
encourage you to do what you can to slow global warming and climate change.
The future of cross-country skiing in Victoria is very much dependant on how
successfully (or otherwise) humanity tackles this problem.
I look forward to seeing you on
the snow or at a pub night in the near future and discussing what the club
can do to improve your enjoyment of skiing.
All the best
David Tomkins
