The Shelter

Beremboke Wildlife Shelter, near the Brisbane Ranges National Park in south west Victoria provides voluntary care for Australian native wildlife.

Marilyn has been involved with wildlife rehabilitation since 1994 and Beremboke Wildlife Shelter was established in 2000. The team including Gordon and Joyce provide the highest quality shelter facilities to meet the needs of wildlife in care while being nurtured back to full health.

Beremboke cares for all types of Australian native animals whether -

  • hit by a motor vehicle
  • injured in a dog or cat attack
  • bushfire victims
  • orphaned
  • aged, sick or diseased
We provide an environment as close to nature as possible -
  • a well appointed wildlife clinic away from the house ensuring minimal human contact
  • vet checks and vet involvement in rehabilitation - including review before release to original location wherever possible.
  • a variety of well kept enclosures and aviaries for all stages of rehabilitation
  • our experience is that individual attention for very ill animals eg bushfire victims, in a quiet environment decreases stress and helps with recovery.
Marilyn is a Life Member of Wildlife Victoria and member of WRIN, BADGAR, AWAREand WRAP volunteer wildlife groups. The Shelter property is part of the Land for Wildlife program and they are members of the East Moorabool Landcare Group and Friends of the Brisbane Ranges.
Wildlife rehabilitators are passionate about Australia's vulnerable native wildlife and provide their service voluntarily. All wildlife shelters and foster carers must be registered with the DSE (Victorian Government) and follow strict protocols.
