Are you concerned about the way issues such as violence, sex, the family, alcohol consumption and gambling are portrayed on TV, radio or in the print media?

If so, you can make a difference by letting the relevant people know what you think.

When making comments by phone or letter always make sure to give your name and address and follow the 7 "P"s!

    The 7 "P"s

    Remember to be :

  • PROMPT - Do it straight away! You won’t feel the same tomorrow.

  • PRECISE - Be as specific as you can: Date/time/channel/newspaper, etc, and mention exactly what it was that annoyed/pleased you.

  • PERSONAL - Always speak about your own feelings - ‘I was upset/happy about ...’ Never presume others feel the same way as you!

  • POLITE - It is easy, especially when feeling cross, to be less than respectful.

  • PRAISING - Don’t comment only when you are annoyed. Programme makers/editors need to know when they please you.

  • PERSISTENT - Don’t give up at the first hurdle. If the telephone is engaged - keep trying. Your comment could just tip the balance.

  • PRAYERFUL - That it will get to the right person, and be dealt with to the best effect.
