Meetings to discuss the formation of a Friends of Williamstown Botanic Gardens were held in the Williamstown Mechanics Institute on the 6th May,
10th June and the17th August .  At the last meeting, with more than 20 interested parties present, the Purposes and Rules for the group required to register the Friends as an incorporated association were ratified with minor amendments.  Geoff King was elected the Public Officer.

When the official part of the meeting was over, Stephen Thorpe from the Hobsons Bay City Council gave a very interesting talk on the past achievements and future directions of the Gardens.  His notes for that talk can be found here.
