Finding Guest Speakers
Finding 11 speakers a year on interesting topics can be hard work. Do you have any ideas on what you like to know more about? Have you heard a talk recently that you think would be of interest to WCS members? Get the details and let a committee member know. We will follow up on the ideas or the speakers.

What is a general meeting?

The society's monthly general meeting is always 8pm on the first Thursday of the month. It starts with annoucments and reports from the committee (presidents, corresspondence, council report) and then the main part of the evening is usually a guest speaker (about an hour).

Then there is 'General business' where members and visitors can bring to everyone's attention specific news or issues they want to discuss. The last segment of the evening is "Nature Notes" when people can report wildlife sightings they considering interesting. After the meeting people stay around to talk to the guest speaker, read the noticeboards, sign up as a member and just socialize. Supper is tea and bikkies! Approximately 20-40 people attend including always a few visitors who are very welcome.
