The WCV is a metropolitan-based club which conducts activities 52
weeks of the year. The program of Sunday and Wednesday walks, overnight pack carries and
base camps are supplemented by cycling, and other
active and social pursuits. Interstate excursions and occasional overseas
trips extend the walking horizons.
Membership is
small enough to avoid being impersonal. After completing three walks
your application for membership can be submitted. The current membership fees are $50.00 (single) and $75.00 (Family). Non-members pay a
small visitors fee at each walk.
Walks are graded enabling you to choose events based on
your ability and interests. Transport to walks is by public transport and private vehicle.
Trip meeting places are close to public transport allowing non-drivers to
be catered for. Information for particular walks or on recommended
equipment can be sought from the walk leaders given in the
club quarterly "Walks
& Social Events Program". These are issued in January, April, July and October.
The club meets at 8p.m. on the first Thursday of each
month (except January) to discuss the forthcoming events and listen to "Guest
Speakers." .
The venue is
Mt Waverley Tennis Club, 263 Fleet Street (off High Street Road between Stephenson Street and Blackburn Road) Mt Waverley, Melway Ref 61,G12.
