
| Andrew Stanley was born in Anaheim, California, and raised two blocks from Disneyland.
The youngest child of a family of four he quickly fell in to the entertainer role for the family.
Andrew learned his craft at the California State University of Chico where he studied Fine Art.
He went on to further hone his art at The School of Visual Arts in New York City where he studied Performance Art.
Andrew’s first live performance took place in the heart of New York City in Central Park in
1993 where he would do “Street Performance”, most noted was his, “Where is China Town” show.
With the winters in New York testing his Californian blood he left in the spring of 1995 when he followed his
dream to San Francisco, California. Off the streets of New York Andrew made his stage debut in SF in 1995
on the Footloose stage of “Venue 9” playing Harry in “When Harry Met Sally” all the while continuing to perform
his off the wall comedy on the streets and local theaters. Landing some rolls in various short films he found his
way to “Waiter Duty” where he received acclaim for his comedic performance at numerous North American film festivals.
In 1996 Andrew wrote, produced and stared in “Get Outta Here!” (a two person comedy) at “The Exit” theater in SF.
Get Outta here! went on to play in Seattle, NYC, Canada and Europe and eventually won the “Best Play” award at a
SF festival in 1998. Andrew followed up Get Outta Here! with a solo project, “Wait a Minute…What?”. “Wait a Minute…What?
debuted in San Francisco in 1999 and has gone on to play in Minneapolis and Europe. Andrew was member of the Next
Stage Impro group. With Next Stage he performed weekly performances until his recent relocation back to his home land,
or close at least, to Los Angles, California.
Andrew is also a visual/video artist and has had shows in New York and San Francisco. He was awarded “Best New Artist” at a 1995 New York art competition. This is Andrew’s first time to Australia and he says he is really going to miss his dog while he is gone. |
