California Comic, Andrew Stanley, born and raised two blocks from Disneyland, says this about his profession
“It’s like, you know…I don’t know…know what I mean?”
Timothy, theater technician, has a fright. The audience is early…or are they? Although the show will be late going up, this actually is not a problem for Timothy. In fact, it turns into a dream come true for the initially reluctant techie. He’s happy to stall the audience as long as he has to for the “real star”, Jerry Dunkin from NYC. Jerry, a recent recipient of the “Siberian Oscar” has wowed fans with his diversity in such rolls as “the Idiot” in Dostoevsky’s The Idiot and “the Crook” in Mammet’s 25 Crooks a Day.
Timothy decides to share some of his own insights with the audience while they wait. The hilarity rolls on as he tells all, a particular gem being a story about his father, the Jungle Boat captain at Disneyland, who also composes three-note-car-alarm songs. “original and off-the-wall.” Star Tribune
In WAIT A MINUTE…WHAT? Andrew Stanley combines stand-up comedy, traditional theater, street theater forms and video to portray the difficulties of finding love and friendship in a cynical world. As the San Francisco Chronicle said, WAIT A MINUTE…WHAT? is “Outrageously funny and also very deep”.
Written by The Güten Jüngs, Andrew Stanley and Georg Koeniger, WAIT A MINUTE…WHAT? has had sold-out seasons in the United States and Europe. Andrew Stanley has been classified as a rare commodity in the world of one-person shows. WAIT A MINUTE…WHAT? has been lauded by critics as “one show not to be missed.” The Pulse“A rare and uncynical performance in a very funny show.” Minneapolis City Pages.
Andrew’s stage persona says of Andrew, “ahm,… well,… he’s like, you know,… I don’t know,… I mean he was a kid for a while, then he grew up,… I mean kind of,… he went to school and stuff, studying things, then he was like, you know,… like traveling around, … doing some focusing,… know what I mean? Yeah, then he was in New York for a while,… hanging out you know, and there he’s done a lot of different things,… like you know,… stuff things,… you know, and now he says he’s an artist or something, but,… I don’t know,… you think he looks like one? I don’t know. Whatever. “Seldom has nothing been quite so captivating” The Edmonton Sun
