SANDRA VELLA Sandra has been involved in the performing arts arena for many years. She was trained in the styles of jazz, contemporary and hip hop dance. Over the years Sandra has performed dance for many Melbourne based festivals and events including the Federation Day Parade. She has been a performing arts teacher for ten years, predominantly teaching Dance and Drama. Sandra has also enjoyed directing and choreographing for many school musicals and Rock Eisteddfods. In 1999 the Rock Eisteddfod she directed won her school the title of “Second Place” in the Open Division of Victoria. Sandra first worked with Tony Le Nguyen and Huu Tran in 2001 on the performance project “Aussie Bia Om”. She choreographed for a dance group that was featured in the show. She enjoyed working on the show and introducing many of her students to the world of community theatre. This year, Sandra co-wrote, co-directed and choreographed for an original school musical entitled “ History Repeating”. Recently, her interest in youth welfare has led her to complete a Graduate Diploma in Counselling. Sandra is passionate about the therapeutic nature of the arts and continues to seek ways in which to explore this.
