In 1995, "Chay Vong Vong" was the first contemporary Vietnamese-Australian play in Australia. The name of the play translates as "Running in circles". The plot centred around the vicious circle that many Vietnamese-Australians were caught up in. Unable to break free from the cycle of poverty, discrimination, unemployment and social isolation, the characters had to overcome the threat of drug abuse, crime, violence, mental disorder and suicide. The story unfolds from the perspective of main protagonist, Khoi. Chay Vong Vong was
written and directed by Tony Le Nguyen.
