THIS SHRINE IS TO COMMEMORATE THOSE WHO HAVE
SURVIVE(D) AND DIED BY PRIVATE VIOLENCE.
Why have a shrine/memorial for private violence?

?

This Shrine for Survivors & Victims of Private Violence exists in the hope that information technology will unite individuals and/or communities' be used to generate interest, access to information, healing, and recognition relating to private violence (often violence behind closed doors). This site will be used as a stepping stone towards the next platform, that is, the development of a non-cyber shrine.

Why have a shrine/memorial for private violence?>
-To celebrate those both living and dead due to the violent acts they suffer(ed) and
struggle(d).
-To celebrate the life they lived.
-For society to recognize that this violence exists but is not exposed to the community.
-To commemorate the courage of victims dead or alive.
-As a gesture that is symbolic if the statue/monument is placed in a public prominent space in the inner city, which would render the public to give recognition to what happens to their fellow beings.
-It's a form of justice being served to acknowledge the silence (imposed) behind closed doors.
-There is a shrine for public violence; The war memorial(s).
-As a reminder when the days news item has been broadcast and that the suffering is more than just news.
-To bring it to the attention of the average citizen that it could be them at risk of perpetrated violence. Even though the crime statistics say that violence is low they are just not reported.
-People will be recompensed and reassured that their pain and suffering is a shared reality in the community.
-It breaks down the isolation.
-Informing the community.
-For the community to take responsibility towards its members who have been abused and maimed; physically, psychologically, sexually, spiritually .
-To empathize and apologize.
-The community demonstrates to all its members that they embrace each other and values them by providing this bridge of justice between the victims/survivors, their friends and families', and grieve the lives of the deceased.
-To visually demonstrate compassion.
-The monument will provide an anchor point for gathering and getting together.
-As a signage that would benefit social development.
-The statue will catch attention of public as a beautification of the land, for the soul, heart and mind instead of the advertising billboards flagging economic interests.
-To unify those who have suffered and/or still endure private violence.
-This a public and private concern raised.
-Hope to have a memorial for those who die and survive
by private violence in a non-cyber public space.
The memorial/shrine would demonstrate society's response to private violence and bring;-
Justice
Commemoration
Hope
Identification
Recognition
Admission
Reconciliation
I feel that there is a distinct lack of acknowledgment and validation of the private violence that occurs to people behind closed doors. This violence also occurs in the way society and the communities respond rather than taking a good hard look at themselves and taking responsibility.
Courage is what I beckon from myself, you, the other, them, us and our community. Let's get together to bring the big secret that is kept private into the open which is the public, in a positive progressive way.
