SHRINE & MEMORIAL FOR SURVIVORS & VICTIMS OF PRIVATE VIOLENCE

An open letter

Re: This cyberspace page is dedicated as a memorial for people who survive and die by private violence. Please support this VISION to become a physical reality.

To whom this may concern,

SHRINE/MEMORIAL for survivors and victims of private violence and their family, friends and people who care about such issues related to private violence.
What keeps me going after private violence?
It is my dream of a shrine to commemorate those who have endured violence and those who have died during the battle whilst struggling. Other survivors and victims would surely appreciate such a shrine.

Private violence occurs to many individuals and groups within society such as;

The elderly - being left at home or in a home and being abused & neglected, by their offspring yelling at them, taking money from them and/or forcibly bashing them.
Children - by neglect, sexual molestation, starving and thirsting in developing countries when there is enough in developed countries to go around, forced to grow up before their time.
The sick - not being accepted for their individuality and ability, access to medical treatment due to financial constraints.
The disadvantaged.
The challenged -physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, emotional & mental.
Different races - are often discriminated against because of their colour and/or beliefs.
Gender - women and men are discriminated against often in a non affirming manner.
Age related discrimination- - in the work force - wage for payments, voting rights.
Lack of affordable housing, and the lowest socio - economic group in the community makes it difficult almost impossible to have a good standard of living.
Due to their sexual affiliation.
"Fatophobia" or not the look presented in the media.
Environmental degradation- pollution, chopping down of old trees (new ones planted in their place don't get to be as old as they keep getting replaced).

The memorial/shrine would demonstrate society's response to private violence and bring;-
Justice
Commemoration
Hope
Identification
Recognition
Admission
Reconciliation
I feel that there is a distinct lack of acknowledgment and validation of the private violence that occurs to people behind closed doors. This violence also occurs in the way society and the communities respond rather than taking a good hard look at themselves and taking responsibility.
I think people find it a difficult area and categorize it under the too hard basket and would prefer to pretend that private violence does not exist.
Courage is what I beckon from myself, you, the other, them, us and our community. Let's get together to bring the big secret that is kept private into the open which is the public, in a positive progressive way.
It would cost i) approximately (Au)$20,000 to pay for the construction, materials and artist(s) of the monument and ii) public land. Therefore I need assistance in raising funds and negotiating a two metre square public space in the city.
The maquette of 'The Statue" can be seen upon request.
My heart aches and will not 'rest in peace' until this shrine is constructed.
Thank you for considering my open letter and surfing this site.

Yours sincerely,
