Veterans Wives Group |
|
You're invited! Are you the wife, widow, partner or ex-partner of a Will I get anything out of it? This group has come about because we believe that we need to be there for each other. It's a place where we are able to meet other women who have been in a similar position, who understand without words what it is like to live with a Veteran. It may help you understand your partner a little better when you realise that there are lots of guys just like him. Should I bring my partner? Some girls come on their own; others come with their partners. If you bring your partner, we would introduce him to other Veterans, who happily take him off to the Members bar to leave us to our group. There are a number of guys who do not drink alcohol now, so don't worry if he does not drink. But I won't know anyone ... We have a policy to make people feel welcome! Everyone talks to each other and we tend to move around throughout the evening. We are very keen to prevent anyone feeling that they are 'on the outer' and welcome new girls each month. A comment often heard is 'I was worried that I would not know anyone, and would feel uncomfortable coming to the group as it has been going for a year now, and people would have already formed into groups, but it has been great. Everyone has welcomed me, and I am pleased I came. I will be back next time!' What time does it start? People will start arriving at the club from 6.30pm onwards. You can eat there, or just sit and chat! Stay for as little or as long as you like. |
