Newsletter on the Net - No. 7 - 12 March 2003

This week Chris Mangan has written a great report for us. More formal than we usually are but quite humorous. Thanks Chris, well done.

Attendance was slightly down, but still well attended by twelve ladies. Apologies from five of the group who are off around the country side.

Congratulations!!!

To Sylvia Condon, whose daughter Annette has nominated her for Barnados Mother of the Year. More about this next month.

We were expecting a talk to be presented by Marg Rehorn and friends, but unfortunately they were unable to come this time. But I believe that Ag and Sylvia were going to catch up with them on their travels, so they will fill us in later.

October Sabbatical to Daylesford

Deposits were taken from interested parties. It appears we have at least 12 attending, which is great. Spas and massage choices were discussed and numbers taken by Pat Burns.

Anniversary

Apparently the next meeting is the second anniversary and this was discussed. John Mangan will be taking group photos, so a suggestion was made that we take extra care with our makeup. Lorraine said she would be responsible for a celebratory cake. Joy and Pat suggested we should take the opportunity during the evening to express our appreciation to outgoing president, Michael McMillan, for the assistance from the Ringwood RSL while our group was being formed. As (after much discussion) we could not decide something more Imaginative, it was decided to arrange a small plaque. Joy is going to follow this through.

Golf

Our golfing section has taken off, and those interested will attend on Friday night, so that we can determine the most suitable times for those that have work commitments on week days.

Coffee

We would like to thank Gary Grail for his special efforts in serving the tea and coffee at our meetings. This month he made several improvements to the service: (a) orders were taken, and (b) he was assisted by Bill Cane; so as well as receiving our individual desires (alas tea or coffee being the only choices) (they are Vets after all!) it arrived hot. Just missing the After Dinner Mints - this could be discussed with the incoming president (maybe).

Generally it was a light hearted meeting which finished up around 9pm. Several retired to visit the gaming machines, and this could be pointed out to the new president Ron Condon, at the same time as the request for the after dinner mints. No-one was given the responsibility of speaking to Ron.

Next month Sylvia and Agnes will be back and all responsibilities will be happily handed back to them.

Hope to see as many as possible at our special night on Wednesday 9th April to celebrate our special day.

Chris Mangan
