Newsletter on the Net - No. 6 - 12 February 2003What a great turn up this month! Twenty ladies who had a great time. There was a surprise from the president of the Ringwood RSL for everyone. Michael is standing down this month and wanted to do something special for us. This was a personal gift from him, not from the club. Thanks Michael and good luck for the future. We hope we still see you around though! This was one of many little surprises that the RSL have given us throughout our time with them. It shows us that they support us and are there for us as well as our guys. We will miss Michael, and we wish his successor well, we are not sure who that will be, as the elections have not been finalised as yet. We discussed going to Daylesford, and everyone was happy with the date. I put the wrong date on the newsletter. It is actually Fri 10th, Sat 11th of October. The first instalment is due in Mar $60, then June and Sept. Everyone that would like to come, needs to get their money to us by our next meeting date to secure their place. The idea is that no-one goes alone in their car. We would like to see 3 or 4 people travelling together as it is part of the bonding of the weekend, so discuss with each other who you will travel with. Next month we will have visitors to our group. Marg Rehorn is the Partner Representative for the National Advisory Committee to Vietnam Veterans Counselling Services, she will be attending with a couple of other partners, not to give us a lecture or anything, but to see why our group works, and how it runs itself so successfully. So come along to have a chat and catch up with what is happening around Australia. Another three ladies have joined the Partners of Veterans Australia, and we are encouraging others to join. We are keen to be connected to them, but wish to maintain our own identity. A number of girls have started to play golf. These are ladies who have never played, or only once or twice. It is a hit and giggle morning, and everyone goes home smiling. It is a great spin off, and I encourage anyone who has a specific interest, to discuss it, and maybe get a group going (tennis, craft, walking etc.) The potential is wonderful. We had an invitation from the VVAA Outer Eastern group to see if anyone could help out at the Knox Festival. It was great to see a number of our girls have put their name down for a couple of hours over the weekend of March 1st & 2nd. Well done girls! We will have extra cards printed to hand out over that weekend. Remember, that's what the donation to the 'pig on the table' is about, it pays for stationery etc. We have another story this month. It is very special and I advise reading it. Thanks Kay for sharing this special time with us. Our second anniversary is in April. We hope to celebrate it with as many of our friends as possible. So if you haven't been, and have been thinking about it, please come for April. We hope to have a photo done again, and beat our record of 32 girls. Let's do our best to share ourselves around. Hope to see you, keep well and smile Sylvia Condon |
