Newsletter on the Net - No. 4 - 20 December 2002Hi Everyone, Our last meeting (gathering) at the Ringwood RSL for the year 2002 was a great success. Eighteen ladies for dinner. We did miss Sylvia who was in Perth visiting a friend who is terminally ill. I have spoken to her and she is having a good time despite the reason for being there, as she has other friends in WA as well. She said that she enjoyed the train trip on the Indian Pacific, "it was magic!" We did miss you Sylvia! It was good to see Sue come along after recently losing her husband Alex. The big surprise for the evening was a visit by Santa (Bill Cane) and his helper, (Gary Grail, who always brings us cups of tea in the evenings). All of the girls sat on Santas' knee while his helper gave out the gift, as everyone had brought a 'Kris Kringle' to put in the Santa sack. Santa did whisper in every ladies ear and both had a giggle, but no-one revealed to another what Santa said…Tut…tut…Santa! The president of the Ringwood RSL (Michael McMillan) gave all the ladies a glass of champagne to celebrate Christmas, and later in the evening another freebee, a nice hot chocolate or cappuccino with a biscuit. We are very lucky to have such a strong support from the committee of the Ringwood RSL. Thanks fellas, and a Happy Christmas to you all, and we hope to continue with you in 2003. Pat and Joy left early because Pat was travelling to Sydney the next day, but the rest of us stayed on till about midnight. The ladies did decide to meet again on the second Wednesday in January 2003 as usual, because not many of us were going away for the holidays at that time of the year. Look forward to seeing you all in 2003. Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year. Agnes |
