Veterans Wives Group

Newsletter on the Net - No. 23 – August 2004

Are you the wife/widow/divorcee/separated or partner of a Vietnam Veteran or Veteran from any other conflict or Peacekeeping operartion?

Do you sometimes feel alone?

Would you like the opportunity to meet others who ‘have been there’?

There is no formal structure & it belongs to no particular Veteran group, ie. Any specific Vietnam Veteran group, RSL,VVCS, etc., so it is generic! No need to let anyone know if you are coming, just be there!

This group believes that we need to be there for each other, so its primary function is as a support group.

The men are very welcome to come along and be introduced to other Veterans in the member’s lounged.

We are here to help each other.

Visitors are always welcome; the atmosphere is friendly, as everyone will make sure that you feel welcome and comfortable.

We meet in the Bistro area of the Ringwood RSL on the second Wednesday of each month around 6pm onwards. You can have a meal there if you wish, or just sit and chat. Perhaps a glass of wine, or coffee /tea with us.

Stay for as long as you like.

Come along and just enjoy being with a group that understands you.  The RSL staff will direct you to us.

During winter some of you may find it difficult time to come out in the evening. So to enable those ladies who cannot make the Wednesday evenings, or miss the Wednesday evening altogether, there is an opportunity to come and meet over lunch at the RSL in Ringwood. We thought the last Monday of the month would be a suitable time frame. Lorraine and I will be there from about midday, so please come along, you would be made to feel very welcome.

Holidays

Sylvia, Agnes and Betty are still travelling. Lucky girls.

We were fortunate to be able to raffle a DVD (donated by the National Australia Bank) and a beautiful painting (donated to us by and Sue Black). The raffle were won by a colleague of Judy Heaths (DVD) and the painting was won by Fred.

Week away in Rye: 20th - 27th October

The dates for our week away have now been set. Please keep this in mind and consider coming for just a few days or even the whole week. Should be a great week, with lots of fresh air, walks along the beach, food, wine, company and conversation.

Final notes

We have some new car stickers to purchase. They are available from the front desk of Ringwood RSL at a cost of $3-00

Sue
