Newsletter on the Net - No. 18 - February 2004Hello everyone and welcome to our website. It's great to know that people are accessing our newsletter. If you have not joined us yet on the second Wednesday of the month we would love to see you and you will be made very welcome. Bring your husband or partner because we will make sure he is made welcome in the member's bar with the other veterans. Our last get together was another successful night, with nineteen ladies present and an enjoyable time was had by all. We thank Ron Condon, President of the Ringwood RSL for some bottles of champagne. It was Ron's last night as President at our monthly evening, thank you for always supporting us Ron. He and Sylvia will be travelling up North in May for a few months, so we wish you a safe trip. We have booked three TPI units in Rye from 20th to the 27th October. Everyone is welcome to come. The cost is fifty dollars per person. You can stay for the week if you wish, or if you feel you only want to come for two or three days, that is also OK. Seven ladies have already paid deposits. The Ladies Auxiliary at the club has a trip organized from May 17th to the 23rd, they still have some vacancies and the cost is $550 per person. (Twin share.) If anyone is interested, you could contact Norma Murray (Ladies Auxiliary at Ringwood RSL). It sounds like a great trip; accommodation will be in Mildura, Broken Hill and Swan Hill. Meals are included. On March 10th, Joy has organized for us to have lunch in Narre Warren, with some veteran's wives, who met at Glen Cromie Park in Drouin last year. It is sure to be a good afternoon. On March 26th, we will have a guest speaker from Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, from 1:30pm until 4:30pm. It will be a two hour talk, and one hour for question time. If you are interested, please come along, it will be held in the Ted Kenna complex, downstairs. As this is the last Friday of the month, some of you may like to stay on and have a meal before going into the function room for the giant raffle. Lorraine was there last month, and won a great prize. The Knox festival is on March 21st and 22nd, the Vietnam Veteran's Melbourne Outer Eastern group help out and receive a donation from the Knox council for welfare. Bill Cane is always looking for volunteers, and some of our girls have offered to help. Bill was very appreciative. So there is a lot on in the next few weeks for people to get involved in, if they wish. Hope to see you at our next meeting, March 10th, in the bistro from 6:30pm. Your friend, |
