Newsletter on the Net - No. 17 - January 2004

Hi Girls,

It's Kay here wishing you all a very happy new year. Most of our ladies don't realize that the festive season has passed and they're still out there touring around, so our January get together only totalled nine. However we still had a heap of laughs. It sure is a nice fuzzy warmth that radiates between us all each time we meet. Our comradeship is quite unique. When one falls, or needs a shoulder to lean on, feels unwell or whatever, there is never a shortage of friends to show support and assistance.

A couple of Sundays ago, some of the girls met at Eastland for a movie session, to see 'Cheaper by the Dozen', as the men were playing golf. "Go Girls!" After the movies we had coffee at Ringwood RSL. It was a great afternoon.

Actually, now that I think of it, the summer months are now upon us, and how many ladies would be interested in coming along to our girl's golf sessions? This season I am determined to make it, after last year going to the trouble of borrowing the clubs from Agnes and having her beloved Michael go to the trouble of lifting them into the boot for us the night before. Then before I know what's happened, it is too late and I've slept in. I've never been able to manage a 6:30 a.m. start yet! Now however, I am very proud to have my own golf bag. 'No Clubs' mind you, but I did retrieve this precious bag off the street before the hard rubbish was collected, so this time I sleep at Diane's the night before, she'll be sure to wake me. So it's all go, girls.

It was decided at our gathering that October 20-27th would be a suitable time for our holiday in Rye using the TPI units. Our dear friend Pat will organise the booking. It will be a wonderful break for us all to relax and have a fun time together. I sure hope as many as possible are able to make this holiday.

Sylvia will arrange with Anne-Laure for the VVCS to provide group sessions of ten weeks at two and a half hours on 'Women Self Care' at Ringwood RSL between May and September for a minimum of ten, maximum sixteen people. We will keep you all informed further along the track.

A very kindly gentleman by the name of Brian Roe, a member of Ringwood RSL has donated a $50 voucher for our ladies group to buy gifts for raffles. Thanks so very much, Brian. It's nice to know these guys think of us and show us this wonderful support.

Speaking of which, our girls would like to show our appreciation to Tim for all the help he gives us to set up our newsletter every month. Hope you make good use of the movie tickets, Tim, and many thanks.

June this year I am returning to New Zealand 'GOOD', I hear you say. However, I am taking two Australian widows with me to attend the Kiwi Vietnam Veteran's reunion celebrations in New Plymouth. After which, we continue our holiday around the South Island for two weeks, or until I run out of relations for places to stay. We will also attend a commemoration service, in Hokatika R.S.A. for one of our boys who died in Vietnam, before leaving from Dunedin to come home. New Zealand will never be the same after the three merry widows have terrorised the place and have left our mark.

Regards and God Bless.

Kay
