Newsletter on the Net - No. 14 - 8 October 2003A big night again! Twenty ladies shared the evening, three were newcomers and very welcome. We also received two apologies. It is not necessary to let us know, but it is good for us to know if you are ill, or something has happened. A couple more nametags were collected and paid for, and the T-shirts are available from me at any time. I have a few with me on meeting nights. Lorraine and I attended the PVA meeting held at VVCS in Hawthorn a couple of weeks ago wearing our new T shirts and badges, and felt very proud to do so. This meeting was held to get an idea of how many girls wished to set up PVA in Victoria. At present it is now in all states except Vic and Tas. Although we both said we would assist in the steering committee; sadly neither of us are in a position to join the actual committee for Vic, due to work and/or family commitments. The meeting to proceed with incorporation in Vic, is to be held in Bendigo on Saturday 18th Oct. If anyone is interested please contact me and I will pass details onto them. A couple of e-mails were presented to the group. One was from a lady looking for details from wives of Vietnam Veterans, who were married at the time of their husbands 'tour' of Vietnam. Always thought 'tour' was a silly word for saying, the time they spent in a war! The second was from a young lady doing her Masters degree, asking us if we were prepared to answer questions etc, as a group of Vietnam Veterans wives. Everyone is in agreement and happy to help. Our big discussion for the night was our trip to Daylesford at the weekend. We agreed to meet at Ringwood RSL at 10am on Friday. Three cars would transport everyone, as it is a social weekend, and important that we all mix and share with each other from the start. Everyone needs to be included and hopefully enjoy themselves. Remember we are all different, but we are all going for rest and relaxation. The fellas came in to help give out tea and coffee to everyone again. We do appreciate their help. They were even able to give some advice to one of our new ladies in regards to pension stuff. I hope no one felt neglected. Looking at the names in our book, I feel that I didn't move around as much as I usually do. Hope I am forgiven for any oversights. The weekend! What a great weekend we had! We are already planning our next one. That started on the way home! After a quick coffee at Ringwood RSL, we left in our three cars; with the sky very black, and it was very cold. We all felt like we were off to the snow for the weekend. The weather as we traveled was not too bad. Just the odd spot of rain and very grey skies. However this was apparently not the case at our homes; as there were a number of worried husbands/daughters/sons, who called to check we had arrived safely, because just after we left the skies opened up and there was very heavy rain, then hail etc. We were lucky to leave when we did. Our three cars met up at the Boathouse café for a very pleasant lunch about 12.30. It was then that the rain caught up with us just as we were getting into our cars to go to the motel; it was not a concern then as we registered and settled into our rooms. Three of the girls had massages booked for 3pm, so when they left, some just relaxed, others went for a walk, in the cold and hail around the town. It didn't matter about the weather, as we were all rugged up anyway. Our evening meal was at the Bowling Club, which was in the same block and we were able to walk, therefore have a drink. The meal was good and we had lots of laughter and fun. Three of the girls actually won prizes in the local Friday night version of our meat raffle. The following day began with a wonderful breakfast, which was shared by Liz and Sandy, who traveled from Kynton to be with us for the day! More shopping, then spas and massages for another six girls. Trips to the Lavender farm, the Convent, great coffees on the main street, lots of talking and sharing, and then followed in the evening by a superb three course a la carte meal. Immediately after that it was back to the main room for Reflexology, by the master and two apprentices, Tarot by the other master and apprentice, and Head massages by the soon to be extra master, who is yet to get an apprentice. There was so much laughter, and sharing! - What a memorable night! The following day we again shared the breakfast before going to the market on our way home. Our car stopped to see Peter (husband of one of the girls, who is in respite) to surprise him. We had a cuppa and chat, and then reached home around 3pm. Thanks to all our drivers, for carrying us all safely. A successful night - A successful weekend. Thanks to everyone involved. Hope to catch up with you in the near future; by phone, e-mail or in person. Don't forget Glen Cromie in November! Keep Smiling Sylvia Condon |
