The job of the unit council is to run the unit while each member also has its small tasks to complete relative to their position. Should you have any queries regarding something contact the appropriate member. Unit Council meetings are held regularly, contact the unit chairman for more details.
Responsibilities
of the Chairman
The chairmans job is to oversee the running of the venturer unit and to make sure that if someone says that they will do something that it actually happens. The chairman also chairs unit council meetings and usually meetings incorporating the whole unit. It is also the job of the chairman to ensure that everyone knows what is happening on a Friday night.
Responsibilities of the Vice Chairman
The vice chairman is there to support the chairman and take over if the chairman cannot attend or do something due to other commitments.
Responsibilities
of the Secretary
The secretary is responsible for ensuring that an agenda is prepared prior to a unit council meeting and writing minutes at a meeting. The are also required to write any thank-you letters to people that have helped the unit in some way. The secretary also types up notices such as the programme and phone chain.
Responsibilities
of the Treasurer
The treasurer
is the person that collects subs and monies for activities and issues
receipts. The treasurer should then mark it off in their book and deposit
the money regularly. They keep control of the unit deposit book and
cheque book - so it is them you must go to if you need a cheque for
something. The treasurer should also issue an invoice if money becomes
outstanding.
The members
of the unit council support the council, especially in the following three
roles.
Responsibilities
of the Quarter Master
It is the responsibility of the quatermaster to keep a record of all the units belongings and there location. If you wish to borrow something from the unit - you must ask the quarter master.
Responsibilities of the Special
Events Organiser
The venturer in charge of special events will be required to organise activities such as VG, Hoadley and major fundraising activities. They are also the contact for groups, should a group or section require help or attendance by a venturer.
Responsibilities
of the Recruitment Officer
The recruitment officer is the venturer in charge of recruiting scouts and outsiders into our unit. When someone from the outside expresses an interest in venturers - the recruitment officer is the one that ensures they come down time and time again. The recruitment officer should also liaise closely with all scout troops (in our case three) to make sure that scouts come to venturers and they know what a great time we have.
