Victoria
Chorale

Victoria
Chorale was founded in October 1993 by Val J Pyers (the
original founder of Melbourne Chorale). He led it until 8 January 2007
and was its first Director and Conductor. The Chorale performs with a
wide range of professional musicians as well as amateur groups. Major
performances have included Verdi's Requiem with the Victorian State
Orchestra conducted by the Chorale's patron at the
time, Claudio Scimone; and the Australian
premiere of Missa O Pulchritudo by Gian Carlo Menotti at BMW Edge as
part of the 2006 Italian festival in Melbourne, conducted by Dr Peter
Tregear the Dean of Trinity College, University of Melbourne .
The
Chorale comprises a group of some 25 to 40 singers (SATB) and aims to
present a diverse choral repertoire from Australia
and overseas. The Choir has a strong commitment to encourage
composers of choral music within
Australia and to perform in rural Victoria as well as Melbourne.
Notice of Victoria Chorale AGM
Our AGM will be held towards the end of our rehearsal on Tuesday March
2nd.
The rebuilding phase of the choir continues and we already have several
new singers for 2010, whom we look forward to meeting at the first rehearsal,
along with all those of you who joined last year. So all those of you who have
not sung with Victoria Chorale for a while, why not come along and sing. The
average age of the choir is coming down and the soprano and alto lines are
becoming stronger with each concert.
We look forward to seeing you at rehearsals. Feel free also to contact
any musical friends who might be interested in joining the choir, and invite
them to come along or forward this message to them.
To assist our planning we would appreciate if you would let us know if
you will be able to sing the first concert either by email or phone Ken
Anderson on 9482 2151.
