This
rare photograph of the corner of Bay
and Cochrane Streets, taken c. 1861 - 1862 by Charles Nettleton. See the Pictures
collection for more information.
We
have a large collection of maps. Researchers are welcome to examine
maps in the collection under our supervision.
The Society is at present implementing its new computerised collection cataloguing system. The system was originally developed by Museums Australia. Most
work at present has been done on the cataloguing of the very large costume
collection, whilst some work has been done on the large map collection.
The picture collection and the photographic collection will be started
shortly, and cross-referencing to the main subject filing system will
also be carried out. There is so much material in the Society collection
that indexing will take many years. Can you help?We do need volunteers to help with the cataloguing of the collections, as well its inputting the work sheets into the computer system. |
