The Victorian Bicycle Coalition is no longer in operation. However the role it played is not being performed at present so this page may inspire others to try the idea again.
The VBC was a network of local and specialist
bicycle groups from around Victoria. It included BUGs, touring clubs, environmental
and other groups with an emphasis on bicycling. The purpose of the Coalition
was to help each of its member groups do their own, local work better through
providing a structure for networking and sharing resources.
The VBC was not open to individual membership.
Involving people
The Victorian Bicycle Coalition was about involvement. Its strength lay in
the hard work of all the volunteers in all its affilliated groups. The
Coalition existed to resource and coordinate the work of a lot of local and
sectional groups to achieve wider change than they could effect alone.

There was no individual membership of the coalition, excepting where there was
no local group and an individual wanted to help set one up in their area.
You joined the VBC by being a member of an affiliated group. Affiliation
was open to all cycling groups although concentrating
on non-competitive cycling issues.
Membership costs were $1 per paid-up member of a group up to 50 members
and was negotiable for larger groups.
