The VBC does not run any courses of its own (at this stage, at least).
Some courses that are available are:
- How to Fix Your Bike
This fifteen-hour course is conducted through Brunswick Neighbourhood House at the Warr Park Community Centre.
The course starts with basics, such as how to hold a screwdriver and which way to turn a nut.
You then move on to: puncture repair, fitting the bike to you, adjusting brakes & gears, wheel bearing overhaul, cable replacement, gear cluster overhaul, checking frame straightness, straightening & building wheels.
The course usually runs over three Sundays and is scheduled five times per year.
Bring your own bike (or borrow one) and work on it yourself under guidance of instructor, John Harland. All tools & lubricants supplied.
- Bicycle Maintenance
Conducted through the Short Courses Centre at Monash Clayton. The aim of this ten-hour practical course is to help you to maintain your own bicycle.
The course will cover in great detail topics such as puncture repair, adjusting brakes and gears, wheel bearing overhauls, cable replacement, troubleshooting problems and many more. The course is entirely hands-on and conducted in a friendly, social setting by an experienced tutor. Tools provided.

Keep your bike rolling smoothly and extend your cycling horizons with this hands-on course in bicycle maintenance. You'll learn how to fix things when they break down and how to care for them so that they don't.
Bring your own bike (or borrow one) and work on it yourself under guidance. Course duration 7 1/2 hours (3 lessons). All tools, lubricants and cleaning materials are supplied.
