Manuals for Abseil
Leaders
The
current version of the abseiling manuals are normally made available
on the course undertaken. However, due to the dynamic nature
of the sport, the manuals are under constant review and are updated
one or more time a year. Due to the cost of printing, the manual
is now prepared as a CD-Rom with an interactive training component
build into it.
This
most current modules of the various manuals are available here
and they reflect the changes that occur over time.
The
Participant Manual and the Abseil Guide Leader manuals are copyrighted
material and may not be reproduced in any form whatsoever. The
exception to this is in the use of scout based training and or
educational research where an acknowledgement of the source and
advise to the VBAC is provided. Commercial use of the material
in full or in part is strictly prohibited and may be pursued
to the fullest extent available under Australian law for copyright
infringement.
This
manual is designed for use by the youth membership (Venturer
Scout / Rover Scout) who wish to undertake an role as an Abseil
Guide Leader but have not attained the age of 18 years. Additionally,
the qualification of a Participant may be undertaken as a training
position is an applicant or course participant is not at the
Skills Leader or Abseil Guide / Leader competency.
The
position is recognised only within Scout Australia - Victorian
Branch and has no formal National Standard of recognition although
some skill sets may be applicable for RPL/RCC when the Abseil
Leader course is attempted.

This
is the main manual issued by the Training Team of the VBAC. It
is designed as the principal course element provided to participants
and is updated from time to time. Again, the format is now principally
electronic with updates appearing on the internet site and the
most current complete version being available through the VBAC
directly.
The
qualification of Abseil Leader is available to adults and is
at the National Standard for the abseiling activity.
The
Recognition of Prior Learning or Recognition of Current Competency
is designed to allow those who hold or have held a qualification
in abseil leading to be recognised for their current skill sets
rather than having to undergo the entire training structure.
If you feel that you are eligible for RPL or RCC complete the
form which can be found under the Training & Courses menu
and press the RPL/RCC button or simply press
here.
