Victorian Association of Financial Counsellors is a newly
formed professional association formed to represent the interests
of Financial Counsellors working in the Victorian Community
Sector. It is a not-for-profit organisation incorporated under
the Associations Incorporation Act 1981, and is currently
funded by membership subscriptions only.
The
aims of the VAFC are to provide the financial counselling
field with:-
- the
development of a professional identity for financial counsellors
- the
promotion and protection of the profession of financial
counselling
- the
establishment and monitoring of standards of practice
- an
organisation that can advocate on behalf of its members
for improved
wages, working conditions, and support
- support
for the aims of the financial counselling field
It is
envisaged that these aims will be achieved by various methods.
These methods will include the development of guidelines for
the field, participation in the ongoing development of financial
counselling education, and advocacy and promotion on behalf
of members. Advocacy and promotion will be directed towards
