STATEMENT
OF PURPOSE
1.
To uphold the rights, improve, protect and foster the interests of its
members.
2.
To register qualified persons and encourage members to maintain the highest
standards of practice in the delivery of financial counselling.
3.
To promote public awareness and government recognition of the aims and
objectives of the financial counselling profession.
4.
To promote education and training of persons engaged in, or desirous of,
being employed in the financial counselling profession.
5.
To liaise with appropriate industrial bodies, to promote the improvement
of employment standards of the financial counselling profession.
6.
To develop and regulate standards of ethics and professional conduct required
for the professional practice of financial counselling.
7.
To formulate standards of knowledge, accredited training, and experience
required to maintain the professional practice of financial counselling.
8.
To liaise with appropriate academic and training organisations to maintain
and develop qualification standards within the financial counselling profession.
9.
To promote consistency and equity for members working within the financial
counselling field.
10.
To consult with associated organisations within the consumer
advocacy field to promote and enhance the work of financial
counsellors.
