VAFA and the AFF regularly hold courses, camps and other sessions designed to help members develop their skills and improve their understanding of fencing.
Beginners courses are run by fencing clubs. If you want to learn to fence check our list of clubs for one near you.

U20 Training Camp

The junior epee camp is part of the national program for junior athletes to develop and refine their skills as part of their individual program. The camp will focus particularly on technique using drills and various types of bouting. Entries due Dec 12th.

Foil Training Camp

The camp will focus on four important elements in foil fencing: mobility, agility, speed, accuracy with exercises and programs designed to improve these skills. An emphasis will be placed on quality of work and performance. Entries due April 18th.

Epee Training Camp

The epee camps are part of the ongoing national program to provide athletes with opportunities to develop and refine their skills as part of their individual program. The camp will focusing particularly on technique using drills and various types of bouting. Entries due Feb 25th.

Coaching Course

The VAFA coaching courses are designed for those people who wish to teach fencing in clubs and schools. At the successful completion of a course participants are accredited at one weapon and recieve the appropriate Australian Coaching Council (ACC) Accreditation Certificate and tracksuit badge.

Referee Course

Upon successful completion of the VAFA referee course you will be a State Accredited referee; this is a prerequisite to National and International Accreditation. You will also receive a copy of the FIE rule book. Participants may be assessed in all 3 weapons or their choice of weapons.

Cancellations

Courses are subject to minimum numbers and may be cancelled if numbers are insufficient. The full fee will be refunded if cancellation is necessary.

Refunds

Refunds are only given when notice of cancellation of enrolment is given in writing 7 days before the commencement date. A standard fee is deducted from the refund. Deferment of enrolment may be possible but only with prior arrangement with course organiser.
