PRESIDENT
John Buchan is the president and chairman of
the VAC. In an average suburban backyard, John maintains aviaries devoted
largely to scarlet-chested parakeets, native and foreign doves, Gouldian and
other finches. He has been involved in aviculture most of his life and has been
active in clubs for more than thirty years.
VICE-PRESIDENT
Tom Hobbs is the delegate from the Geelong
Branch of the Avicultural Society of Australia. Tom is experienced in many
facets of aviculture. Tom has been appointed by the council as “Lost and Found
Birds”officer. This appointment has been endorsed by the Department of
Sustainability and Environment, enabling Tom to retrieve and hold native species,
as well as foreign birds until an owner is located.
SECRETARY / EDITOR
Henk de Groot represents the Goulburn Valley ASA,
centred around the Shepparton region of North-East Victoria. Henk keeps a range
of finches, parrots, quail, doves and soft-bills. He is chairman of the VAC's
Bird Sales committee. Henk is also the VAC's member of the Conservation
Subcommittee of the Avicultural Federation of Australia, and is a member of the
Department’s Wildlife Possession and Trade Advisory Committee [W.P.T.A.C.]
TREASURER
Lou Dall'Est is the president & delegate
from the Avicultural Society of Australia. He has a special interest in
parrot-like birds - cockatoos in particular. Lou has been a bird-breeder for
many years and devotes his spare time to his bird collection in a town to the
north of Melbourne. Lou is responsible for all money matters!
LIAISON OFFICERS
The VAC's liaison officers
communicate with the various VAC affiliates.
David Renshaw is the president & delegate
from the Mornington Peninsula Avicultural Society. He is a parrot breeder who
has a wide interest in avicultural issues. Dave is also the Victorian
representative of the Stolen Bird Hotline.
Peter Visser represents the Cranbourne
Budgerigar Society and keeps a wide range of species. His interests include
parrots, finches, canaries, budgerigars, pet birds, doves and quail.
