The
Substation is a centre for visual arts, music, performance and literature
which is housed in a converted power station. It was launched in 1990
by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Community Development. Since then
1500 events have been staged for an audience of over 350, 000 people from
a wide range of backgrounds. The Substation encourages an open environment, experimentation and interaction between the arts to build on the local arts scene and reach out internationally. As an art space they aim to be approachable, open, diverse and versatile while at the same time challenging artists to examine their vision, work and outcomes. substation.org |
