Kurt A. Pirk is a media artist, born in Linz and works in Vienna, Austria. The main emphasis in his work is photography, film and new media. Founding of the artists group scoop and member of the Austrian Filmmakers Cooperative. Postgraduate studies of new media and studies in painting and graphics at the Akademie der bildenden Künste, Vienna.

The theme in my work is concentrated around the effect technology has on human beings and their relationships. For a few years now I have worked with the hypothesis of penetration of technology into the body and with the rearranged structure of the body. In reality the body reacts to the image of the body who is formed by a new media, fashion, science fiction and science. In future the body will be transformed by means of genetic engineering, so that firstly it has to be sufficient to the media and secondly to the demands of the working environment.

Shortly: Black Box technology in confrontation with Black Box bodies. As only teams are able to understand the complete technological concept, something artificial is formed, which is as nearly as complex as the world itself. Through technology the world receives a counterpart.
