Views of the opening night 1
This is an overall view of the opening at Galerie Treppenhaus, being situated on the first level of the Galerie. In the background, facing the wall you can see Maggie McCormick and Christian Lunig's work next to each other. On the left, Christian's images show a manipulation of the Reichstag as an image which represents a nation and its social and kultural background and history. He adopted the colour red at Maggie's suggestion as a new symbol for Berlin, and wrapped the image literally in its new symbol.

Amongst the crowd on this photograph are Claudia Luenig and Ralf Schmitt, performing their work called Sammeln und Verlieren throughout the opening.

This is the stairwell leading up to the first level, with faxes received directly from Melbourne fixed to the wall so that the viewer/visitor had the opportunity to take part in the cross continental event. We provided a fax machine on location so that everyone who had interest to send a message to Melbourne could actually do so. The response was grand.
