Bernard Föll
Drone
Vienna 2002

Threatening marks of our time, if political media pictures affect the art, the difficulties begin: art gets stuck in its time if the documentation character or the political picture statement remain unambiguous, as for example in the seventies. Bernard Föll chooses a helicopter as a central Bildmotiv of a mysterious situation admission. We are in a picture relation hot off the press (Afghanistan) or here it is about a processed film impression (Apocalypse Now)?

Helicopters are icons of our (Postwar) time.

This Berlin artist has used media models as picture impulses since the end of the eighties. So interfere nce in his work pictograms with newspaper pictures from the daily press, short-lived and cultural assets of our generation. If the helicopter, now here, the "drone" becomes, the documentation value is crossed. Game and seriousness, art and world affairs are no more contrasting pairs in these pictures.
