urbanart has a focus on art in urban public space in particular in Melbourne, Australia, and the relationship of that place/space/cultural identity, to a new global public space and identity. urbanart has initiated a number of international projects which explore these concepts, including Global Fusion - Melbourne/East Asia + Wien/Eastern Europe, 2002 + kultural kommuting - Melbourne/Berlin, 1998.

City of Melbourne

The City of Melbourne is proud to support melbourneconnectionasia. This unique public project is a vibrant and engaging addition to the city’s art and cultural program and supports Council’s commitment to building partnerships with other leading Asian cultural centres.

Melbourne has an energetic multi-cultural population which is reflected in the diverse array of events our city hosts every year and has earned us a reputation for welcoming new forms of artistic expression from local and international artists.

On behalf of the City of Melbourne, I wish to congratulate urbanart on the melbourneconnectionasia project and its ongoing contribution to the city’s energetic arts scene.
