Jo Scicluna (Australia) and Joel y Perez (Spain) formulated a simple scenario of a lone female in a constructed landscape, through the artists’ common subject of the landscape in their photographic practice. This departure point led to establishing the common theme of alienation. The artists sought to combine the common processes and themes to evoke a subtle strangeness in each image and in their combination. Throughout history the landscape has been a site upon which to project ideals, fears and anxieties. What does the figure in each image project onto the landscape? Is her alienation self imposed or an affliction? A delicate relationship between beauty and fear is suggested.
