Sanja Pahoki (Australia)
& Nicole Aders (Germany/Austria) Portrait of a Faraway Conversation It started in July 2004 when Nicole Aders (Austria/Germany) emailed Sanja Pahoki (Australia): 'we are chosen to work together I am looking forward to get to know you and your work.' This first email signaled the direction that the collaboration would take; one based on a desire to connect. As the seasons passed, and the email dialogue continued, an image of a whale emerged. In response to the weightiness of whale and water, a male figure in the air was proposed. Text from the email conversations between the artists was superimposed over the images in order to create a space that is both alienating and intimate. |
